Forty years ago, the Friends of the Howell Carnegie Library had the brilliant idea to have a "big" book sale during the annual Howell Melon Festival. Some ideas just get better with time, and this August the "Melonfest Book Sale" is the biggest and best used book sale anywhere in Livingston County. New this year: all children's books are only ten cents each! That's right! Whether you are a teacher trying to stock your classroom or a parent creating a home library, the Friends have more kids' books this year than ever before. And while you are at the library for the book sale, check out our special events on Saturday, August 15.
